Dr. Dewey Davidson
Senior Pastor
DeweyDavidson@fortifiedhills.com
Dr. Dewey Davidson has been in ministry for 40 years, pastoring churches in Texas, Georgia and Florida. Highlights of his ministry in these churches include baptizing over 100 people a year for the last 15 years, beginning a pregnancy care center, community medical clinic, jail ministry, benevolence centers, multiple church plants and hosting mission trips to Africa, Europe, Belize, Mexico, South America and Russia. Additionally, he led building campaigns for new facilities and remodels to existing buildings.
Overseas Missions was always a desire of his heart and for the past year and a half, Dewey has been leading overseas mission trips and seeing thousands come to know Christ in each country he’s visited. Dewey will tell you that his greatest passions are evangelism and discipling men. His personal challenge is to win at least two people to Christ each week and disciple men weekly.
Dewey believes in the church, that it will never go away, its God’s way of doing ministry and reaching the world for Christ. Evangelism is the function of the church, but with a strong focus on Worship, Children’s Ministry and Discipleship. When it comes to salvation of the lost, there are many ways the church can win people; they just have to be intentional. As far as a vision for the church, it needs to be known as one that ministers to people here and abroad, reaching people through a variety of ministries such as a Preschool/Daycare, Medical Clinic, Orphanage or Benevolence Ministry. Also of importance is for the membership to be aware of their Spiritual Gifts and put them into action, involvement with local government such as attendance to chamber meetings, working with men and strong discipleship, paying off debts and building new facilities to meet the expanding needs of the fellowship. Knowing all things are only possible through prayer, Dewey plans to begin a 24-hour prayer ministry in which 168 people partner to pray for one hour, covering the church in prayer every hour of the week.
Regarding ministry priorities, Dewey is called first to set the example of Godly husband and father, protecting and nurturing his family. Secondly, reaching lost people is the heart of the church mission. Third, the pastor needs to study consistently week after week, feeding the congregation a strong diet of biblical exposition. Finally, he loves pastoral care and being available to minister to the church family in times of need, joy, sorrow, difficulties and decisions.
Dewey is a biblical conservative, believing in the inerrancy of scripture. He received a Bachelors Degree in Religion from Baylor University, Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Doctorate of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary. Dewey is 60 years old and has been married to his wife Denise for 33 years. They have two grown sons, Justin and Bryan, and one daughter-in-law, Amber.
